2011 Season Comes To An End !
Sunday
September 4th marked the end of another season for the Corps. It ended
on a very high note with spirits high also. Cool temps and some light
drizzle didn't
dampen the enthusiasm of this group. A large crowd was on hand once again
and
the corps did not disappoint. After the parade we played a full concert to a
very
receptive crowd. Our last performance was at the VFW where once again a full
house awaited. Once we finished playing the good-byes and hand shakes
started.
"Another great season, we'll see you at the spring practice", could be heard
from one
end of the building to the other. Yes we'll separate for now but will return
in March
to do it all over again. See you in 2012!!!!!!!
National Legion Convention 2011, Minneapolis, MN. !
Once again,
after the fundraising efforts of lifetime supporter Tom DeCarlo, we were
able to be a part of this special convention. Downtown Minneapolis was a
great theater
for us to perform in. The buildings acted as acoustic tiles and magnified
the sound of
the corps much to the enjoyment of the many veterans in attendance. Before
the
parade we walked up the parade route stopping here and there to play a few
numbers.
At the staging area we played for all the legionnaires as they readied to
march the short
parade route. Many viewers stood on the sidewalks to watch and listen, but
most of all
to pay their respect to the men and women who fought for our country. It was
our
pleasure and privilege to show our support and respect for all who gave and
for those
who gave their all. It's humbling to be a part of this event, filled with so
much pride and
patriotism. We hope to be able to attend next year's convention in
Indianapolis IN.
Merchandise & Media !
We've added
something new this year. We are now selling more than just hats and
T-shirts.
We added women's tanks, hooded sweatshirts, sweatshirts, travel
mugs and coffee mugs
to our list of items to sell. All proceeds go to help support the
corps operations along with
the purchases of uniforms and equipment.
We also have a
member that has taken on the media. He's been writing and
contacting all the media to help promote the corps and it's schedule of
events.
We'd like to
welcome Scott Warren to these two new adventures, he's been selling
merchandise and writing for a few years now and we thought it's time for him
to become
busier. He's been a member for many years and would be glad to help you
support the corps.

Marty's at Lambeau Field Dec 5th 2010 !
It just doesn't
seem real but it is. We took our music to the Frozen Tundra
- Lambeau Field and did what we do, played pretty for the people. It was
a great time, something we will never forget. An audience of 72,000 people,
25 degrees, strong winds and clouds yet we were smiles from ear to ear.
We arrived just before 11:00 am and as we road in our Minnesota Coaches
bus people looked as if to say, Minnesota, what? After arriving at the Don
Hutson Center we unloaded, readied our instruments and headed inside where
we got into our uniforms and held a practice. Yes, a couple more runs
through
just to make sure we're all on the same page and doing what we've practiced
for the last month.
At noon we headed for the loading dock area, also known as the tunnel, where
we waited to be called onto the field. As they served us a box lunch, we
watched
the game on TV and did some fine tuning to the horns. Just before the 2
minute
warning they escorted us onto the field just behind the 49er's player's
bench. We
got to see 2 touch downs and 4 possessions, we also had time to snap some
photos.
Once the players left the field we lined up on the sideline and were ready
for our
debut at Lambeau Field.
One member said it was the longest and shortest 6 minutes of his life.
Others said
I'm so excited I'm almost in tears. Drum major Rich said, "in all our years
of
marching did you ever in your wildest dreams think, ever, something like
this"?
It went very well, our sound was great, we marched as proud as we could
and did our very best. We're all so proud and thrilled to have been able to
take
part is such an event. A thrill of a lifetime, something very few could ever
think of
experiencing, and the largest audience we've ever had the pleasure of
playing for.
